25th Anniversary Kookaburra 1oz Silver Proof Coin

A World Money Fair - Berlin Coin Show Special - 25th Anniversary Australian Kookaburra 2015 1oz Silver Proof Coin has been released by The Perth Mint. The Proof Quality 99.9% Pure Silver came in special 2015 World Money Fair Coin Show packaging.

The coin's reverse depicts an adult kookaburra sitting on a tree stump surrounded by eucalyptus leaves and a fern. The design includes the inscription THE AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA, The Perth Mint’s special ‘P25’ mintmark, and the year-dates 1990 – 2015.

Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the coin’s obverse features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2015 year-date, and the monetary denomination.

The coin is housed in a classic Perth Mint presentation case within a beautifully illustrated World Money Fair shipper, accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity. 2015 marks the 25th anniversary of the original Australian Kookaburra coin design which was first released in 1990 and designed by Dr Stuart Devlin AO CMG.

The kookaburra is fondly known for its distinctive call which sounds similar to human laughter, and can be heard echoing through the trees at dawn and dusk.
