Portugal 70 Years of Peace in Europe Silver Coin

On March 11, Banco de Portugal has released a new coins for the European Silver Programme “70 Years of Peace in Europe”. The Imprensa Nacional-Casa da Moeda (Portugal National Printing House, and Mint), minted a coin with the face value of 2.50 Euro, created by the sculptor Vítor Santos, in an issue limited to 2500 copies in gold and 7500 in silver, both with proof finishing, and 100 000 copies in copper nickel with normal finishing.

The coin obverse show the stylised figure of a dove in flight above the representation of the map of Europe with the Portuguese coat of arms and the face value on the centre. The "70 Anos de Paz na Europa" coin is only legal tender in Portugal.

The coin reverse show a dove carrying an olive branch with inscription "70 Anos de Paz na Europa", The Europa series logo, INCM logo and the year of issue "2015".

The coin will be distributed to the public through credit institutions and at Banco de Portugal's cash offices. The characteristics of this coin were approved by Executive Order No 11/2015, published in the Official Gazette, Series I - No 13 of 20 January.
