New Zealand Post’s has start to open a pre-order for their 2015 Kiwi Silver Proof Coin, coin will be release on late October. The latest New Zealand’s iconic kiwi silver coin hides a secret – this coin glows in the dark. This 1 troy oz 0.999 silver with selective colour have a limited worldwide mintage of 2,500 coins. It is also the first New Zealand legal tender coin to use glow-in-the-dark technology.

The coin reverse show a North Island brown kiwi, as well as the species name bordering the coin, framed by brilliant green New Zealand ferns. This stunning silver coin features the innovative Glow-in-the-dark design reflects the nocturnal nature of the kiwi. The North Island brown kiwi, is declining at a rate of nearly 4% per year, due to changes in habitat and introduced predators.

The coin obverse will feature a portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley, United Kingdom. The $1 silver coin is New Zealand legal tender coin.
